Who are we and how was Set Me Free born?

Posted by Triin de Speville on

My name is Triin and I am actively incorporating zero waste and low impact living into my life. I am a Londoner and also a mother to my little girl Alice and soon to another little baby. So for time being I am very busy growing bigger myself.

At the beginning of 2018 I was walking along the beach and noticed the amount of rubbish that had swept on the beach. Instead of enjoying the light breeze and emerald sea I became very preoccupied with the plastic I use in my life. That and having just seen David Attenborough's Blue Planet really gave me a kick to do something about my lifestyle and I immersed myself into any literature I could find online on zero waste. Soon I discovered Bea Johnson and her 'Zero Waste Home' philosophy and all of a sudden the journey became much easier to imagine.

Being a mother, I am more focused on ways how mothers can raise their children with as little plastic as possible. My aim is to cut out disposable nappy use (they take 500 years to decompose!) and remove things little cotton wool and any beauty items in plastic from my life. I can tell you that it is contagious and I've noticed people around me reduce their plastic use.

Set Me Free is there to help us become free from plastic. SMF is there for information, inspiration and products to buy directly to make our lives simpler and kinder towards the environment,

If you have any questions, comments or want to get in touch please feel free, I'd love to hear from you.
